State Commander's Tour 2008

The State Commander's Tour made its annual visit to Buck-Reasoner Post 238 on April 3, 2008. A good turnout of Post, Auxiliary, SAL and ALR members greeted the contingent accompanying Commander Williams early that afternoon. Although their visit was short, we were glad to host them again this year. Below are some pictures from the visit.

The pictures below are of Norman Armstrong, who is the son-in-law of Dick Simmons, married to Dick's daughter Misty. He said he has fond memories of visiting our Post with Dick while in High School. Norman is career Army and a helicopter pilot. The pictures were sent to the post from Misty Armstrong. Included was Norm's E-Mail address which is bignorm_aviator@hotmail.com. Perhaps he would enjoy hearing from fellow members.

Holt American Legion Post Donates
To Lansing Homeless Veterans at VOA

Pictured: Past Dale Cousineau, and Auxiliary President
Peggy Henderson present checks totaling $600 to the Homeless
Veterans Program at the Volunteers of America in Lansing

The Holt American Legion and Auxiliary Unit recently donated $600 to
the Volunteers of America, specifically earmarked for the Homeless
Veterans Program. The VOA provides a shelter for as many as 35 homeless
veterans every day, and donations such as this help keep their program in
tact and viable. Besides providing a place to sleep and eat, the
shelter provides several programs that assist these veterans to get them back
on their feet and back out in the community, such as counseling,
continuing education and job fairs. The Holt American Legion, with it’s
Auxiliary, Sons of the Legion and Legion Riders Unit, are pleased to be
part of a donating force to keep the Homeless Veterans program going.
“Veterans Helping Veterans, is what we are about”, says Dale Cousineau.

The American Legion is the world’s largest veterans’ organization with
over 3-million members in approximately 16,000 Legion Posts.
