What is the Auxiliary
With almost one million members from all walks of life, the Auxiliary administers hundreds of volunteer programs, gives tens of thousands of hours to its communities and to Veterans, and raises millions of dollars to support its own programs as well as other charities familiar to most Americans. There are approximately 10,500 Units located in every state and some foreign countries.
Auxiliary Mission
To support the American Legion and its programs for veterans, young people and community.
To provide for today's needs while being advocates for a brighter future.
To advance the understanding of patriotism and responsibility of citizenship.
To promote individual integrity and family values.
To ensure as volunteers, that Auxiliary members continue to be the leaders in all that is good in the nation today, tomorrow and for generations to come through serving others first and not self.
Becoming a Member
A woman is eligible for membership in the American Legion Auxiliary if she is the mother, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, great-granddaughter or grandmother of members of the American Legion, and deceased veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during listed war periods. Step relatives are also eligible. If you are under age 18, you can join as a Junior member. For eligibility dates, see Membership page.
