5th Annual "To Hell and Back" Ride
Did you know:1 in 3 homeless men are armed services Veterans
This annual ride, sponsored by American Legion Riders of Holt Post #238, was held on August 11, 2007. 63 riders visited Dansville, Gregory, Hell, and Howell to raise money for VOA Michigan.
At the October 31, 2007 meeting of the ALR, Kate Reed, coordinator of the VOA Veteran's Homeless Fund, was presented with a check from the ride.

The dollars help support, in addition to services at the New Hope Day Center, the following:
Veteran's Dormitory Program (VDP). Open to male and female homeless Veteran's, provides all services of New Hope, plus assistance of the Veteran's case manager, and physical and mental health services of the VA Medical Hospitals. 80% of individuals recover to independent living within 6 months of time available.
Veteran's Housing Program (VHP). Provides longer-term transitional housing to Veteran's, including those with substance related disorders and/or mental illness. Veterans can participate for 18 months and receive case management, individual and group counseling, referrals to substance abuse treatment, medical treatment, job interviewing and placement, and anger management. Aftercare is offered for 6 months after graduation.
This is another of the great program our Riders support! Once again, our Riders come through!
Check Presentation to Dimondale Center
Post 238's Riders held a "Ride for Care" to benefit the Dimondale Nursing Center on June 2, 2007. On August 2, 2007 several members of the Riders presented the check to residents of the home. Our Chapter does this ride every year, among other charitable rides. Our Riders are the best!! Thanks for all that you do!

This picture was taken on November 30, 2005 when the Holt's 238 Chapter of the American Legion Riders presented a check to the local Volunteers of America shelter to help homeless veterans.
